On behalf of the Bishop’s Mental Health Task Force, Rev. Paul Daniel will provide an introductory workshop that is intended to provide an overview of mental health and mental illness. Rev. Lee Roorda Schott, co-vice-chair of the Task Force, will host and assist.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Describe what is meant by the terms mental illness and mental health.
- List the risk factors that may contribute to the development of a mental health problem.
- Identify the most common mental health diagnosesRecognize some of the symptoms of the most common mental illnesses
- Discuss recovery for those experiencing mental illness
- Challenge some of the stereotypes and stigma associated with the term mental illness
- Identify ways of looking after your own mental well-being.
